2017 Wreaths Project
Honoring our Veterans

Alamo City Republican Women is again participating in Wreaths Across America.   The Wreaths Across America project began at Arlington National Cemetery and has spread across the USA to over 1100 national cemeteries.  These wreaths are not for homes but are placed on graves at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery to honor our deceased veterans.

Our association with this project began in 2009 when, with just 24 hours before ordering deadline, we sold 72 wreaths.  Participation has since continued, with members of our club volunteering each year to help lay the wreaths.

On December 16th, 2017 a Memorial Service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery followed by volunteers placing the wreaths on graves.  We have set a goal for 2017 of selling 1000 wreaths.   The cost for each 20 inch wreath is only $15.00.   They are made from fresh Maine balsam and decorated with a red ribbon, and are shipped all across the US by volunteer shipping companies direct to the cemeteries.

Do you have a family member or friend you would like to honor?  If you provide us an exact name spelling, we will make certain a wreath is placed on that grave.   Perhaps you’d just like to anonymously honor a World War II, Korean or Viet Nam vet by purchasing a wreath for him/her.  Let us know your desire, and we will make sure it is done.

We know it is early to think of December 2017, but we are already accepting orders.  If you would like to purchase a wreath, sell wreaths to friends or be on the committee, please contact  Pat List at 913.669.3589 or email patricialist@gmail.com.  Make your tax deductible check payable to Wreaths Across America and mail to Pat List, 24345 Wilderness Oak, Apt 2302, San Antonio, TX 78258. If you wish to pay by credit card you may order at http://xmaswreaths.weebly.com. The deadline to place an order is November 19, 2017.
