President's Message

I wish to thank the 2010 Executive Board, all the Committee Chairs and members for making certain that 2010 was another great year for Alamo City Republican Women. Give yourselves a pat on the back because you were a great team and deserve it. I know 2011 will be another fantastic year for us.

It seems a long time ago now, but I would like to mention our Christmas luncheon and to thank everyone who helped make it such a fun and festive day. We started off by being addressed by our new Congressman, Quico Canseco, before he had to rush downtown to a noon luncheon. Judge Jason Pulliam also stopped in to thank Alamo City for all of their support. We were then entertained for thirty minutes by the wonderful Beacon Hill Baptist Church family mariachis. The only business that was conducted was the swearing-in of the 2011 elected officers by Rebecca Bradford, President of the Texas Federation of Republican Women. Rebecca graciously drove in from Corpus Christi that morning to attend our luncheon. A special “thank you” goes to all the board members and other members for providing gifts for everyone in attendance.

Please consider attending the regional workshop to be held in New Braunfels on February 5th and Legislative Day in Austin on March 3rd. Registration forms are inside this newsletter. You will learn a lot about the federation, how to become a leader and much more at the regional workshop. Legislative Day is when Republican Women from all over Texas meet in Austin, all outfitted in red, for an exciting day that you will not want to miss. We are considering hiring a bus if we can get enough members to attend Legislative Day; otherwise, we will carpool.

Our Membership Recruitment Reception will be held in February, so if you have friends you wish us to invite to this special event, please turn the names in to Helen Cleary, the 2011 Membership Chair. You may email them to her or give a list at the January luncheon. Helen's email address is: hccl5902@aol.com. This is the year we really need to build up our membership in anticipation of the 2012 Presidential elections. The candidates will be filing in late 2011, so we will need hundreds of prepared volunteers once again.

I think you will enjoy our guest speaker for January; please make your reservations early.

Happy New Year!
