We started off our January, 2006 monthly meeting with a bang! Our District Attorney, Susan Reed, was a huge hit--just as we anticipated. She disseminated lots of important infomation and answered many questions asked by many of the members, plus she got us all pumped up for the primary elections in March. At the end of the meeting, all the candidates present were able to have two or three minutes at the microphone in order to introduce themselves. Once again, we had a full house and ran out of seats.
Now it's on to Alamo City Republican Women's event of the year--our Membership Recruitment Reception, with Senator John Cornyn as our guest speaker. What a great day that is going to be! For members who are new to the state, Senator Cornyn is from San Antonio, so we are doubly proud to have him as our guest. his lovely wife, Sandy, will be accompanying him. Judge David Berchelmann will introduce the Senator.
I know we have many new members who are not familar with our membership reception because I have been receiving e-mails and telephone calls enquiring as to where it is going to be held, etc. So I will give you a few tips: It would be advisable to carpool and to arrive early in order to get a good parking space and a good seat. Angle parking is allowed on East King's Highway, so please angle park even if other cars are parallel parked. This way more people can park nearer to the event.
For members who have paid their 2006 dues, the cost is only $l0.00 plus a plate of finger foods. If you have not paid your 2006 dues, please send in our check now and include an additional $l0.00 for the reception. All attendees must have a reservation and all non-member guests will pay $35.00. We will be offering, on that day only, free memberships to Alamo City Republican Women, but only to women who are not members of a federated Republican women's club. Last year we had some guests who insisted on paying only $l0.00 because their member friend who brought them paid only $l0.00. If you have any questions, please call Barbara Bearr at 342-5482 or e-mail me at President@ACRWomen.org.
Remember to invite your friends and neighbors.
