President's Messages > October 2006

I know those of you who attended our September meeting were impressed with our new Texas Republican Party Vice-Chairman, Robin Armstrong, M.D. and with his message. I was not only impressed with Robin but also with the other young people who addressed us--Damaris Barton who is in charge of the Victory 2006 Headquarters, Luke Pohl who represented Gov. Perry's campaign and Jan Clepp who spoke on Congressman Bonilla's behalf. All three were there to recruit volunteers. Isn't it reassuring to know that we have these bright young consevatives coming up behind us?

The Victory 2006 Headquarters is located in the Frost Bank Building at the corner of Blanco and Loop 410 (Central Park Mall) on the second floor. Luke will be working there too; Congressman Bonilla's campaign office is right across the hall. If you need yard signs, bumpers stickers or push cards for any candidates, this is the place to go.

We are thrilled to have as our keynote speaker the First Lady of Texas, Mrs. Perry, at the "Texas Women Can Make The Difference on November 7th" luncheon. To add to this, we have more exciting news! We are pleased to inform you that we have added another of our favorite speakers to the agenda, Susan Howard. Many of you will remember that Susan spoke to us in October of 2004 and got us all revved up for the Presidential Election. Susan was the actress who played Donna Krebbs in the TV show "Dallas." She serves on the board of the NRA and is finance chair for the RPT among other things. Susan is a very busy lady--you will love her.

Reservations for the luncheon are coming in quite fast, so be sure to mail your check for $20.00 in immediately to Sharon Kemp, 2014 Adobe Trail, SA 78232. This will make things move more quickly on the day of the luncheon. Please do not indicate that you want to sit with any particular person. It is open seating--unless you reserve a table and send in $160.00 along with eight names. There can be individual checks, but they must all come in one envelope. This is not a fund raiser, and we are charging only $20.00 in order to make it affordable for everyone. Please do not mail checks after the 20th because we may not receive them in time to put you on the list.

Election day will be here soon, and I know many of you will be working as judges and clerks on that day, so be sure to vote early if you are not working in your own precinct. We have very good candidates this year so be certain to vote for all of them. Please read the article inside this newsletter about the special election, especially if you live in one of the areas that were redistricted. All of the candidates need your help to get the vote out, so please contact your favorite candidate to see how you can help.

Remember to get those luncheon reservations in early!
