Long Time Alamo City Republican Women Member Named as the 'Woman of Distinction' by the Texas Federation of Republican Women in January, 2018 ~ Judge Renee Yanta
Currently, a large portion of Judge Renee Yanta's docket is family law cases - divorce, custody, child support and child protection. For these often difficult matters, Judge Yanta relies not only on her mastery of law, but also her tender heart for protecting children and rebuilding family. Her foundational principals in family law cases is to create stability, healing and collaboration.
Following her heart for protecting children, in 2015, Judge Yanta created a court especially for teen girls in foster care. To address these girls' ever-present challenges, Judge Yanta innovated a therapeutic court that provides trauma-informed care, life-skill training, profound mentoring and unconditional, but tough, love. Over 30 girls have been served by this special community / court partnership with amazing outcomes! PEARLS Court Girls have met every goal for the program, and in June 2017, celebrated the high school graduation of its first two Seniors.
Besides a full docket and thriving PEARLS Court, Judge Yanta stays focused on community service. She has been President / Chair of numerous organizations, including the University of Incarnate Word Development Board, the St. Mary's Law Alumni Association, the San Antonio Bar Foundation and the Bexar County Women's Bar. She currently serves on the Bexar County Juvenile Board and the University Health Foundation Board. She is also a hands-on volunteer, helping at SA THREADS (a boutique for foster children), serving meals at SAMM Ministries and having started a teenage pregnancy prevention program in the Harlandale ISD.

Two Sunday's in a row, the video of George P. Bush was shown on ABC News Sunday and most of the shots were taken at our October 2014 luncheon. Sue Hensley was speaking with George and then there was Donna Wright outside of the bus with George. Many members were spotted in the background.
Plus, there was an article about George being interviewed at Alamo City Republican Women's luncheon. The reporter gave us a good write up.

Shirley Cooper Inducted into Bexar County Hall of Fame!
Long time Alamo City Republican Women member was finally inducted into the Bexar County Hall of Fame. She has been an activist for 40 years and has served as Campaign Manager for many candidates and there are not many elected officials or candidates around that she has not volunteered for. She is a past President of Alamo City Republican Women and has served on the board in many capacities and still does. In 2011 she was chosen as an Outstanding Woman of Texas by the Texas Federation of Republican Women. There have been many people inducted into the Hall of Fame, even this year, who have done nothing to further the cause of Republicanism compared to Shirley. One wonders who makes the decision regarding these inductees.
