President's Messages > September 09

First, I would like to report on the Campaign Management School that was held at The Magic Time Machine on August 22nd. We had such a wonderful turnout, and if you ever have the opportunity to attend one of the TFRW's Campaign Schools, it is well worth the time and money. There are so many exciting new candidates in Bexar and surrounding counties. We are so grateful to Carol Hanle, the TFRW Campaign Activities chair, for giving us the opportunity to be involved. A special thank you goes to Shirley Cooper and Betty Puckett for manning the registration table. The Magic Time Machine served the attendees breakfast and a lovely lunch—I don't know how they did it for the price they charged us. We were very fortunate in having two sponsors for the event: Lilly and Company, a state-wide fundraising and grassroots consulting company in Austin and Dan Branch, a State Representative from Dallas.

The next important event coming up after our September 15th luncheon is our Annual Fundraiser at Retama Park on October 3. The event is held in the air-conditioned track-side pavilion right at the finish line. Yes, there will be live quarter horse racing! Many of us are not gamblers but we still attend. The horses are beautiful and this is an evening of fun and fellowship. This will be the third year we have invited the wounded soldiers and their families from BAMC. They just love it and have told us it is one of the best events they are invited to. We are asking members to sponsor at least one soldier even if they cannot attend. We just hope you can find your way to be there. These young men and women are an inspiration and you will be truly blessed to meet them. The green flyer inside has all the details of where to send your check. Please note, we cannot accept corporate checks.

Please read all the pages inside this newsletter regarding the Texas Federation of Republican Women's Convention on Galveston Island on November 13th, 14th, and 15th. Alamo City Republican Women have been allotted 35 delegates and 35 alternates. That is a lot of delegates so I am sure if you want to attend there will be room for you. We will vote on the delegates at the September luncheon. If you are unable to be at the luncheon but would like to attend the convention, please contact me immediately. If you want to read more of what will be going on at the convention, you may access the information at

A special “thank you” to all the members who took time out of their busy schedules to attend the Townhall meetings held by Congressmen Lamar Smith, Charlie Gonzalez and Ciro Rodriguez.

I am looking forward to seeing you on the 15th.
