President's Messages > September 2014

Here we are in the midst of the campaign season—I often wonder what is the campaign season and when does it begin—it always appears to me to be never ending!  Fundraisers, BBQ’s and special events will continue on right through October.

So many events have been happening this summer but for us the most important one was our New Member Orientation reception on August 6.  Our Deputy President Jennifer Lambert was our first speaker, followed by Will Hurd, Congressional Candidate for the 23rd District and all the other candidates present.   It was held on Happy Trail in the beautiful home of a friend of quite a few of our members.  The Board sponsored this event and once again the food was outstanding.  Well done ladies!

Despite the hot weather many groups have been out block walking all summer long and if you are one of those, you are greatly appreciated.   All of the candidates need your help. There are many places you can sign up to help candidates around town.  It can be as simple as block walking, phone banking, putting signs in your yard or donating money.

We are so fortunate that we are the only county in Texas that The Republican Party of Texas has opened an office and hired three paid full time employees. It is located at 12002 Bandera Road, Suite 101.  Stop in any time to see what you can do.  They are here to help all the Republican Candidates.   You may email mitch@texasgop.orgfor more information.   If you would just like to help the local party at the new HQ they are always looking for volunteers. The new address is 909 NE Loop 410 #514.  Then we have Carlton Soules, candidate for County Judge, looking for volunteers.  Carlton is the former District 10 Councilman and he says his numbers are good for him to win this election and beat Nelson Wolff.  He opened his HQ on Aug 14 at 1335 NE Loop 410 Suite # 101.  It is open from 9-5.30pm daily. Call 667-8522.  Sandy Bryan Marion, candidate for Chief Justice, 4th Court of Appeals has a HQ at 2108 NW Military but she is not open full time right now.  Will Hurd  for the 23rd Congressional District and Rick Galindo for the  117 House District both have winnable races.  They both need lots of help so please volunteer for them.

We have wonderful program lined up for September.   Chad Kent will be speaking on “Un-complicating the Constitution”.   Strange title I must say.  I know we all think we know the Constitution but do you have problems explaining this to your friends?  Chad is going to make it really simple for you.
