President's Messages > January 2015

What a wonderful final luncheon of the year we had.    Despite so much illness and with many of our members out of town, we still had a great turnout.   Jody Rushton, the President of the Texas Federation of Republican Women, made her first visit to Alamo City Republican Women.    She gave an awesome speech and then installed the 2015 Executive Committee.   Members were impressed.

We were also honored to have our always dynamic and inspirational Senator Donna Campbell address us. Senator Campbell had not been one of our speakers since she was elected to office.   What a great day it was to have these two outstanding women as our guest speakers.

Pat McMillan, our in-house famous author, presented both speakers with her beautiful book “Christmas at Historic Homes”.   I knew this was going to take place but I didn’t know I was also going to be a recipient of a book.   Thank you, Pat, for your generosity.  Pat is so busy working on another book and I believe it is called “Christmas at Famous Texas Homes”.    These make wonderful Christmas gifts so be prepared for next year.  We will keep you informed when it is available.

I also want to thank all the board members for donating the gifts at their own expense. They wrapped their donation and placed one on every chair.

The Pregnancy Care Center so appreciated your generosity in donating diapers and money for diapers to their organization.   As I have said before, it is not a hand out to these girls.  They must attend various classes and earn “dollars for diapers”.  Please feel free to stop by the Pregnancy Care Center for a tour to see what they do.  It is located in the Medical Center.

We have a highly recommended outstanding speaker this month, Fred Burton.   Maybe you have seen him on various national TV shows.  Be sure to read his bio inside this newsletter. You will not want to miss hearing what he has to say.  Invite your friends, neighbors and especially husbands—they will be glad they came.

We had a wonderful successful 2014 --thanks to all of you.  Our candidates and elected officials really are grateful for all the 1,000’s of volunteer hours you donated along with your financial contributions.   2015 is going to be exceptional and exciting year too.

On behalf of the Executive Board, I wish you a Happy New Year and I am looking forward to seeing you on the 20th.
