Alamo City Republican Women is again participating in Wreaths Across America.   The Wreaths Across America project began at Arlington National Cemetery and has spread across the USA to over 1100 national cemeteries.  These wreaths are not for homes but are placed on graves at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery to honor our deceased veterans.

Our association with this project began in 2009 when, just 24 hours before the ordering deadline, we sold 72 wreaths.  Participation has since continued, with members of our club volunteering each year to help lay the wreaths.

On December 14th, 2024 a Memorial Service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery followed by volunteers placing the wreaths on graves.  We have set a goal for 2023 of selling 1000 wreaths.   The cost for each 20-inch wreath is only $17.00.  They are made from fresh Maine balsam and decorated with a red ribbon.  They are shipped all across the US by volunteer shipping companies directly to the cemeteries.

Do you have a family member or friend you would like to honor?  If you provide us an exact name spelling, we will make certain a wreath is placed on that grave.  Perhaps you’d just like to anonymously honor a World War II, Korean or Viet Nam vet by purchasing a wreath for him/her.  Let us know your desire, and we will make sure it is done.

If you would like to purchase a wreath, sell wreaths to friends or be on the committee, please contact Jeanne Wentzell at 210-601-4766 or cjeannew57@aol.com.  Make your tax-deductible check payable to Wreaths Across America and mail to Jeanne ACRW/WAA, 26211 Windspirit, San Antonio, TX 78260. If you wish to pay by credit card you may order below. The deadline to place an order is November 28, 2024.
